Emigrating Norwegians

Siste kvelden i Norge // Last night in Norway

We are counting down to a new year and a new life! It’s almost unimaginable that we are leaving in only 17 hours! It’s hard to belive that I still have my nerves under control. I guess it’s just too much to comprehend that we are actually moving to the US tomorrow. The suitcases are packed and ready to go fianlly. It wasn’t easy because they weighed too much, so we had to give up and use one more even though we had decided to manage with just two.

// Packing when you’re moving aint easy..

Tonight we’re going to celebrate New Years Eve with Linda and André in Drammen. The turkey is in the oven and the table is set so we are ready for a nice and relatively calm evening. I want to be in better shape tomorrow than I am right now, so I’m going for full recovery before we leave.

// The guys are tonights chefs, so the girls can take it easy.

Yesterdays dinner situation was a very different one than today. My mother in law and Per Christian made the traditional Norwegian dish Smalahove (sheepshead…)! I have never tasted it before and was naturally a little sceptical. My taste buds are not as effective as they should be since I’m still sick, so I was just glad I tasted something, and it wasn’t bad at all. Anyway, it was fun to eat something as Norwegian as Smalahove for one of the last meals here.

I’m a Norwegian girl who is leaving the cold, icy north together with my husband to find out what’s happening on the other side of the world, more specifically Los Angeles.
